ANALYSIS:

Method of Extraction: Butane

Form:
Wax

Type:
Sativa-Dominant Heirloom (approx. 85-90% Sativa)

Genotype:
Maui Wowie  =  Hawaiian Sativa Heirloom Strain

This strain's exact genetics are unknown and there are several cuts out there.

Contrary to what you may have heard, a true Hawaiian cannabis landrace strain does not exist because cannabis is not indigenous to Hawaii. However, many heirloom strains were cultivated in Hawaii in the 70s and 80s. Maui Wowie is an heirloom, not a landrace strain.

What is an Heirloom Strain?
Heirloom strains are cannabis strains that were collected worldwide during the 1970s by travelers on the infamous
Hippie Trail (aka, Hashish Trail). These heirloom strains were mainly propagated in Hawaii and Northern California in the 1970s and 1980s. This reviewer remembers them well and is still chasing those memories.

What is a Landrace strain?
A ‘Landrace’ strain refers to strains that are indigenous to a geographical area, evolved naturally in their original habitat and stabilized over time as a result of natural inbreeding. Some examples include Columbian Gold, Panama Red and Durban Poison.

In its intact state, this wax emitted light pungent, citrus notes. When dabbed, this sample was mostly intense pungency with mild citrus mixed in. I could also detect some floral notes at times.

TIP: To learn how you can use this terpenes data to better your health, see the Terpenes Library page.

Effects:
I found the effects to be surprisingly potent. The first 10-20 minutes were quite an intense cerebral jolt, which then leveled off to the familiar Maui experience: cerebral and relaxing, in a synchronized way, with lots of mellowness and just enough boost. And, no matter how much I dabbed this wax, I always experienced that initial cerebral over-intensity.

Duration of Effects:
2.5 – 3.5 hours

May Help With:
Helped with mood. May also help with nausea, anxiety, depression, appetite, mild body pain, some mild forms of nerve pain (and more).

Rating:
4/5
A very solid Maui Waui butane wax with a nicely preserved terpenes profile.
