Officer Dick Downey's Pot Report
Over the years, I’ve confiscated endless paraphernalia from you burn-outs. Here’s a relatively new-fangled devil’s vine contraption, which you attach to a water pipe to make it function as a nectar collector.
Retail Price: $40.00, plus tax
NOTE: I do not identify dispensaries in my reviews. However, if you want to know the shop that's offering this pricing, I will provide it to anyone who requests it.
About the Dab Vac: Headdies’ Dab Vac is essentially a nectar collector that attaches to a water pipe. It functions just like a nectar collector (i.e., heat tip end and inhale vapors) with the added benefit of re-directing the vapor through the water in the water pipe before you inhale it.
-Body is a plastic resin that has been manufactured using a 3-D Printer
-Universal joint adapter fits common female or male openings (10mm, 14mm, 18mm, etc)
-The glass dish and stem are borosilicate and replaceable
-A replaceable silicone/rubber hose
-A silicone cover for the dish
The Dab Vac was very easy to install: you simply insert the adapter joint into your glass piece where the bowl or nail would normally be seated.
To use this Dab Vac:
To sum up, this Dab Vac offered very nice, tasty hits due to the low temp dabbing nature of the product. It also serves as an affordable alternative to a glass version and makes conversion of a glass pipe easy. However, I also found the product to be challenging to physically handle at times and noticed that a lot of extract gets drawn up into the stem after some use.
-Affordable price point
-Tasty, full hits
-Great for lower temp dabbing
-Makes conversion of a glass pipe easy, though I don’t recommend using your flower bong for dabs if you can avoid it.
-When you heat up the stem, the heat transfers and move up the stem, making it hot to handle, often too hot. This specific stem/tube design is not the best design when considering heat transfer since it's just a short glass tube that you hold directly. In a typical nectar collector, the tip is often titanium while the body is long, glass and designed to be cool to the touch and diffuse heat.
-Not ideal for short glass pieces, like the one shown in the pic at the top of the page. The Dab Vac stem is only a few inches from the user’s face, which could be hazardous. When attached on short rigs, you do not have a bird's eye view of the dish and you can't see what you’re doing at all.
-There’s no ‘holder’ for the stem after you take a hit. As a result, there’s no safe place to put the stem immediately after using it. (I have seen an earlier model with a holder, but it appears Headdies discontinued that design).
-Excess product gets drawn up and ends up in the stem. Over time, a significant amount can accumulate.
IMPORTANT: Because of these safety issues, I would not recommend this product to anyone with dexterity challenges.
Maintenance: Regularly clean in the same way you clean any glass paraphernalia. I recommend 90% Isopropyl Alcohol.
Offers tasty hits, modern design & affordability, but I also experienced some noticeable safety issues that the user should be mindful of during use along with some other flaws. In my opinion, a traditional nectar collector works just as well without any safety or functionality issues.
Example of a traditional nectar collector:

And remember, the next time you turn around, turn around again ...'cause I’ll be there.
