"Maui Wowie" By Kid Cudi
Type: Sativa-Dominant Hybrid (approx. 80% / 20%)
Genotype: Maui Wowie = Hawaiian Sativa
aka: Maui Waui
There is a debate about modern MW’s lineage, and if the original genetics are still around. And, is it an “heirloom” or “landrace” strain? Who the hell knows anymore.
Aaron Zeeman lives in Hawaii and is well known as an expert cultivator and breeder of Hawaiian strains. He won at the first Hawaiian Cannabis Cup a few years ago. His story is worth checking out.

Phenotype Profile: I have a fair amount of experience with Maui Waui, having smoked lots of it in the early 80s. Those bright green, small cone-like buds with lots of orange hairs and bursting with tropical, fruity sweetness. This cut of Maui was not that classic phenotype at all. Instead, this sample consisted of much larger, denser bud structure with darker greens and a generous coating of trichomes. Hmmm. A quality looking bud, but not the Maui I know and love. Let’s explore further...
Bud Density: 4.75 [1 -5]
Terpene Profile: I didn’t request the lab report for this product, so I won’t be providing the specific terpene levels for this review.
In their intact state, this bud did not burst with tropical citrus sweetness. Instead, these buds emitted light herbal and hash notes. Once ground, the flower smelled mostly of Haze with some Maui-like citrus and dank Kush-like notes. When smoked, I tasted mostly Haze qualities and light, citrus and herbal notes. The smoke was a bit harsh. My palate did not detect any tropical sweetness or fruitiness in this cut of Maui. It leaned very Haze/OG Kush type of combo.
TIP: To learn all about terpenes, see the Terpenes Library.
Effects: The effects were at once uplifting with some body relaxation. It was a potent high, though it was more gas heady, like you’d get with a fuel or Dawg influenced strain. Just as with the physical traits and terpene profile, the high – while pleasant – was also not quite reflective of the Maui effects I know.
Duration of Effects: 1.5-2 hours
May Help With: Helped with mood. May also help with depression, anxiety, mild pain relief, appetite (and more)
I don't have enough info to make any accurate inferences about this bud. I just know it's a Maui phenotype that I’m not familiar with and one that does not reflect the classic traits of Maui Waui that I've come to know.

Goin' back to Honolulu
Just to get that, that Maui Wowie, that Maui Wowie
And remember, the next time you turn around, turn around again...’cause I’ll be there.
