Officer Dick Downey's Pot Report
NOTE: Categorized as a "Major" cannabinoid in cannabis. CBDa has the same chemical formula as THCa.
As with CBD, CBDa is not psychoactive. Higher amounts of CBDa have been seen in Ruderalis subspecies and recent cannabis hybrids. As with other cannabinoid acids, CBDa is found in its highest concentrations in the fresh, raw plant. There has not been a lot of scientific research on CBDa, though studies do indicate that CBDa appears to have anti-inflammatory, anti-emetic and anti-proliferative effects. CBDa might also be an effective anti-bacterial agent.

Cannabidiolic Acid, or CBDa, is the chemical precursor to CBD. CBDa is one of the three major cannabinoid branches formed by CBGa. The cannabis plant possesses natural enzymes, referred to as "synthases", that break the CBGa down and convert it to one of the major cannabinoids. CBDa can then be converted to its neutral form of CBD by the removal of a CO2 molecule via the process of decarboxylation, as depicted in these graphics.
