About the Review Pics: This reviewer no longer owns the Extreme-Q (donated it in 2015) so the manufacturer’s product photos are being substituted.

Manufactured By: ©Arizer®
When It Entered the Market: First iteration released in 2008
Forms of Cannabis it Accepts: Dry, ground cannabis only
Retail Price: As of 5/2016, the latest digital model is $219 on the manufacturer’s website.
Note on Pricing: This unit is being sold online by various third parties at a lower price point than the manufacturer. If you are considering buying from a third party, make sure the seller is an authorized seller or the warranty won’t apply. Also make sure the unit is the most recent version. Often times these sellers pass off the previous model as the latest model.
Warranty: Per Arizer, “The Extreme Q carries a lifetime warranty on the heating element, and a limited 3-Year warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. Glass is not covered under warranty. Retain proof of purchase for warranty service. Returning the product and costs incurred are the responsibility of the user. Arizer will repair or replace warrantied items at our discretion.”
Arizer uses high grade, dual-wall stainless steel for the cylindrical body of the Extreme-Q vaporizer, which stays cool to the touch during use. The internal heating element is ceramic. The latest model boasts a new ‘quiet fan’, a more precise temperature control with triple heat sensors, solid state circuitry and 50% more energy efficient than the previous model.
The Extreme-Q’s cyclone™ bowl is the glass piece that sits directly atop the heating element with the top half acting as the cannabis bowl chamber. This bowl piece is made from high quality borosilicate. The fill bags are made from high temperature, food grade material. The whips are made from food/medical grade vinyl tubing.
Battery & Charging
The Extreme-Q does not have any internal battery. You simply plug the universal 110-240v power adapter in to a wall outlet.
The digital temperature controls are adjustable in 1° Celsius increments with a full temperature range of 50°C-260°C / 122°F-500°F). The Extreme Q temperatures can be displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit. You can change the temperature with the buttons directly on the vaporizer or with the remote control.
Performance & Vapor Quality: Performance is very good with either the whip (i.e., straight hits using a tube and mouthpiece) or the collection bags. Both methods provide full, rich and flavorful vapor hits, especially if you use the fan setting on low when using the whip. This reviewer recommends allowing the unit to heat up after the unit reaches the set temperature for best performance. After you load the cyclone™ bowl, let it sit on the vaporizer for a minute or so before using it to ensure optimal vapor hits. The collection bags take about 1.5 – 2 minutes to fill at the fan’s highest speed. The remote allows you to adjust temperature, fan speed, a shut-off timer, power, and the audio function. The remote may seem like useless over-kill, but it actually proved to be very handy and a much more convenient way to adjust settings.
TIPS: When you first get this unit, let it heat up at its highest setting and leave it on for up to 30 minutes to burn off any residual chemicals or odors from the manufacturing process. Using the low or medium fan speeds for filling bags results in the thickest vapor. Make sure you grind the cannabis material very finely. Always start at the lowest temperature and work your way up the range for optimal vaporization. Don’t pack the chamber too tightly or you will restrict the air flow.
Maintenance: The Extreme-Q requires regular maintenance to ensure it functions properly. Resin builds up quickly with regular use. The parts you’ll most frequently clean are the dome screens and the cyclone bowl. Most parts clean up easily with isopropyl alcohol, pipe cleaners and Q-tips.
The Pros: Fair price, a great alternative to the much more expensive desktop models, made with safe, quality parts and materials, offers a wide-range of temperature settings, provides multiple fan speed settings, has a sleek design and provides a useful remote control.
The Cons: This vaporizer has a lot of moving parts made of steel, glass and vinyl, which all must be regularly cleaned and maintained to ensure clean tasting, full hits. The high maintenance and various small parts make the process tedious and might not make this unit easy for those with limited dexterity. Attaching the collection bag to its corresponding glass mouthpiece using the small rubber O-rings isn’t always an easy process. With prolonged use, you will need replacement parts, such as screens, bags, possibly rubber O-rings, etc.
